In a major vote of confidence in the future of the fledgling e-bike industry in Australia, the first – and only – ‘Made in Australia’ range of street legal e-bikes was officially launched onto the market in Brisbane at the weekend.
The official launch at Electric Bikes Brisbane on March 3 and 4 attracted a large crowd of people keen to see the AVE range of e-bikes for themselves and to test ride the bike of their choice.
A highlight of the launch was a presentation by special guests Gary and Rachel Corbett - better known within the electric bike industry as the E-Bike Cycle Tourists - who currently hold the world record of 27,800kms for the longest continuous e-bike journey ever completed.
Gary and Rachel spoke to an enthusiastic audience - and answered many questions - about ‘how to prepare for and complete a successful long distance e-bike cycle tour’. Long distance e-bike cycle touring is a fast growing genre within the adventure tourism market for people looking for a different type of adventure, given the ability of an e-bike to take anyone of any age wherever they want further, faster and easier.
AVE Given a Vote of Confidence
AVE CEO Nick Willis described the success of the launch as “a vote of confidence” in the future of the AVE range of electric bikes in Australia and beyond.
He said he was delighted by the fact that so many people signed up to try out an AVE e-bike for themselves, highlighted by the fact that organised group test rides to the peak of Mt Coot-tha and along the Brisbane River were oversubscribed on both days of the launch.
“We were clearly pleased by the number of people who attended the launch and the many favourable comments we received at the conclusion of the test rides from both first time e-bikers and people who were looking to upgrade their existing e-bike,” he said.
“AVE is proud of the fact that we are producing the first Bosch powered Made in Australia e-bike not only for sale here in Australia but for the highly competitive e-bike markets of Europe, the UK and beyond.”
AVE E-Bikes to be Rolled out Across Australia in Coming Months
Following the national launch of AVE – short for Advanced Vehicle Engineering – in Brisbane, the full range of AVE e-bikes will be rolled out across Australia in coming months.
Mr Willis said he was confident Australians would recognise the value for money the innovative and intelligent range of AVE e-bikes represented, given the fact that comparable European models were up to $2000 and, at times, even more expensive.
“What we are offering is a range of quality adventure and urban electric bikes that feature top-of-the range componentry that is proven to last the distance at a very competitive price,” he said.
“AVE is also the first e-bike manufacturer in the world to offer a ‘made-to-order custom configuration service’ which essentially means customers can customise their new AVE e-bike with the colour, front suspension, brakes, wheels and lighting of their choice to create an e-bike that's unique and personal to them"
